About Rusty Sherrill
I was born much younger than I am now. But, as the years passed, I eventually grew out of it. My childhood was your average middle class up-bringing. I was just like any other small childlike person except for two minor details, I could move things with my mind and destroy entire universes with my forehead!...No, wait a minute, that was the kid down the street.
Okay, back to this part – my career. It all started back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and only prisoners with good behavior had cell phones. In the interest of not boring the reader to uncontrollable tears and the contemplation of purchasing a fire arm, here’s the extremely condensed version:
Art School. Graduated top of my class – worked at a few jobs that didn’t allow me to use any of my artistic skills. Moved from Florida to California. I’ve worked in the clothing industry for the last twenty years, hoping to work my way into doing some challenging illustration / cartooning work. But, alas, twas not meant to be. So now I’m spending all my free time doing illustrations, painting, cartooning and working on my own children’s book as well as with a few different comic book companies, trying to make my dreams come true. I’ve shown my work in the 1997-2004 “San Diego Comic Con” art shows, the 2001 “Truth Show”, San Diego as well as the 1999-2003 “Centered on the center” art shows at the Huntington Beach Art Center.
Well, that’s my story thus far. Who knows what could happen next – poverty? Selling my cold rain-soaked body on the streets for a warm smile and a Chicklet? Or, artistic fulfillment, stardom, untold wealth, a guest spot on The Simpsons?!! Your guess is as good as mine. But, as the saying goes; “You never really lose until you quit trying.” And I’m not about to do that.
